Alexandra Spyratos

Portfolio of International Contemporary Artist Alexandra Spyratos.

Influenced by her colorful background, translating the heat and the exotic beauty of the African wildlife to canvas has become Spyratos’ passion and spiritual goal.

This prolific Australian/Greek Kenyan international artist has become known for her bold and individual style. Her paintings rich and textured with variegated gold, copper leaf and pure coloured silver, recreate the physicality of the wild that inspires her.

AMAZONICA ARTIST IN RESIDENCE WITH CORRELACION CONTEMORANIA, IQUITOS, PERU (Mural residency, Peruvian Amazon).

The goal of the residency is to foster an environment of cultural exchange, artistic production, and/or contemporary art research. The residency provides an alternative space for creation influenced by the city of Iquitos, its urban dynamics, and the nearby indigenous and rural cultures. AMAZOìNICA promotes research and reflection through a program designed in dialogue with both traditional and contemporary artistic practices of the local scene. AMAZOìNICA has partnerships and connections with non-profit organizations and local communities, which allows artistic development in social processes that contribute to the preservation of indigenous traditions and the Amazonian cultural ecosystem. The residency is located in the city of Iquitos, the largest metropolis in the Peruvian Amazon, which is inaccessible by road; it can only be reached by river (3–5 days) Alexandra will be working with rural communities and schools on selected mural walls. Working with school kids in particular to educate on conservation of the wildlife (in this case butterflies and frogs) in the Peruvian Amazon.

ART ON THE MOON

As an artist, when you hear your art will be going to the moon to be preserved as a digital record for years to come and for ‘who -knows -what -the- future -might -find”, its at first a mind boggling thought, but then YES, lets think as far as space and the universe to continue an expansion of excited creativity and an extended preservation of the records of art. Trust Graeme Stevenson, the founder of the Tv series “Colour In Your Life” to think this big and orchestrate such a fabulous vision of taking art to the moon. And I am very happy to be included in this far reaching perpetuating idea. As one of the featured artists in the TV series “Colour in Your Life” , I will be part of this exciting venture to preserve a digital record of the creative spirit for generations to come. My art show will be included in the Lunar Codex or “the Museum on the Moon”, rocketed via the Astrobotic Griffin / NASA VIPER ROVER / SpaceX Falcon Heavy mission headed to the Lunar South Pole due to land in 2025. The artists work was also chosen to be onboard the Polaris orbit, and Serenity and Minerva, two lunar missions associated with the Lunar Codex project, a cultural time capsule. The Serenity mission landed on the moon on March 2, 2025, while Minerva landed on March 6, 2025.
