Show Setup

Setting up and curating the art show is rewarding and fun but hard work up and down ladders. But it’s always great to find the best way to present one’s work to the audience in a professional and balanced way, and great to see one’s hard work come to life in the gallery. Tonight is the full moon opening, Sept 11, at 7pm. SETTING UP THE SHOW, MUNICIPAL GALLERY OF MYKONOS 11-21ST SEPTEMBER 2022, SOLO SHOW BY ALEXANDRA SPYRATOS. Solo show, Mykonos, Greece

The first day I spent restretching 8 paintings at the Artists Academy. Hard work needs strong gloves as it’s hard on the hands. But 8 paintings fitted perfectly to the stretcher frames shipped from Athens. It was a good start followed by a stunning sunset at the famous Mykonos windmills and amazing greek food at my favorite restaurant Captains.

Greece Art Exhibition, Athens

Today was the day to organize and check the frames I have made here in Athens for my solo show on Mykonos upcoming the 11th of September. They will be shipped to Mykonos ready for my arrival to re-stretch all my art in a few days’ time. A traveling artist’s life is not all glamour and holiday, it’s hard work and needs precise organization and commitments to time when exhibiting with galleries worldwide.

48th Solo Show, Mykonos

I head to my 48th solo show on Mykonos in 3 days. The show will be held in the beautiful old island style building, The Municipal Gallery Of Mykonos, right in the centre of the charismatic old town with its cobbled streets, whitewashed architecture, and buzz of summer that still lurks. Photo Credit: MUNICIPAL ART GALLERY OF MYKONOS But it’s not all glam and bubble! An artist’s work is hard core. The 16 paintings are rolled up and I am packed to the brim with 50 kilos of art, catalogues, posters, and some glamorous shoes and cloths that have somehow fitted in between the paint tubes. It’s a heavy weight to carry Africa to Greece, then Athens via ship to Mykonos. The frames are preordered and shipped to the gallery. The restretching takes me three days and need to get started, bandaids ready for the hand blisters. Hanging the show is the best fun. To curate and see all the work you have created for this moment of the exhibition to the world. The show opens on Sunday, September 11th, time for some Greek wine and olives and a celebration of life.
